TEWKSBURY: Ronald George MacFarlane, age 90, a resident of Tewksbury for over 75 years, passed away at Greystone Farm Assisted Living in Salem, NH on Friday, May 13, 2022.

He was the beloved husband for over 50 years to Mary E. (McLaughlin)(DeCarolis) MacFarlane, who passed away on October 16, 2019.

Born in Tewksbury on December 14, 1931, he was the son of the late Leslie MacFarlane and the late Annie (Snellgrove) MacFarlane and was stepson to the late Sarah Rita (Nugent) MacFarlane.

He is survived by one sister, Theresa Cannon and her husband Robert Cannon, of Costa Mesa, CA: one brother, Kenneth MacFarlane of Costa Mesa, CA. Ron was the brother of the late Wayne MacFarlane of Yuma, AZ.
He leaves many friends including the entire DeCarolis family.

In 1952, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served four years as an Aviation Electronics Technician during the Korean War aboard the U.S.S. Hornet CVA-12. The Hornet’s assignment at the time was with the 7th Fleet and resulted in a world cruise. He was awarded several decorations for his active-duty service including the National Defense Service Medal, the Navy Occupation Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the China Service Medal.

Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, Ron was employed by various companies until he retired from Raytheon in 1992.

Ron enjoyed spending time at his summer home in Freedom, NH. In addition, he enjoyed fly fishing in the remote areas of New Brunswick, Canada, hunting in central New Hampshire, wood working, gardening and the companionship of his pet dogs Holly and Brandi.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 21, at 11 a.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury. Interment of his ashes will follow at Tewksbury Cemetery, 172 East Street, Tewksbury.
