WEST BALDWIN- Rita B. Rankin, age 81, passed away on May 11, 2022, at Maine Medical Center in Portland.
She was born in Baldwin on Oct. 20, 1940, a daughter of the late Harland and Etta (Sanborn) Bliss.
Throughout her life, Rita served her community as a teacher at Baldwin Elementary School.
She will forever be remembered for the enjoyment she had reading, journaling, writing poetry, being with her beloved dog- Charlotte, and her trips to Florida with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her beloved husband- Joe Rankin; children- Amanda Jackson and her partner Kermit Hanscome of West Baldwin and Joseph D. Rankin of West Baldwin; siblings- Leighton Bliss, Virginia Norton, and Gene Bliss all of Baldwin; grandchildren- Nicole, Joseph, Deanna, and Richard; and great grandchildren- Braden, Liam, Charlie, Gabby, and Addison.
A graveside service will be announced at a later date at the Old West Baldwin Cemetery, Rt. 113 in West Baldwin. Pastor Will Rankin will officiate.
