WORCESTER___John J. Lisauskas, 86, of Worcester died Friday May 5 in Radius Healthcare Center, 119 Providence St.
He leaves four nieces and two nephews, Maria Alekshun, Magdalene Fotiades, Evelyn Huff, Bella Fox, William Bailey and Erwin Bailey, grand nieces and grand nephews. He was predeceased by a brother and three sisters, Alex Lisauskas, Antoinette H. Bailey, Angela Yesalunas and Ann Fotiades. He was born in Worcester, a son of Kastantis and Helen (Bainis) Lisauskas.
Mr. Lisauskas was a utility lineman many years working in electrical construction contracting and retired many years ago.
He attended Our Lady of Vilna Church and was a member of Southworks Post 3657 Veterans of Foreign Wars. John was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving in the Rhineland, Germany and the Central Europe Campaign. In combat John fortunately survived the war because his hemlet deflected a bullet. His brother, Alex, unfortunately sustained a serious head wound in combat two weeks after John’s hemlet experience and was left 100 percent disabled until the end of his life. John visited his brother every day for 50 years until he passed away. John is a strong supporter of veterans and veteran affairs and served his country proudly.
The funeral will be held on Monday May 8 from DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton St., with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Vilna Church, 151 Sterling St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. A calling period will be held on Monday May 8 from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. in the funeral home.
