Obituary

SPRINGFIELD – Raymond E. “Ray” Bellefeuille, 95, of the East Springfield section of Springfield, left this life on Thursday, May 12, 2022 to join his late wife of 72 years, Ramona, to complete their Forever Journey. He was born in Springfield on January 30, 1927, one of ten children to the late Alfred and Alice (Clement) Bellefeuille. He was raised in Springfield, graduated from Springfield Trade High School and had lived his entire life in Springfield. Ray retired from Monsanto in Springfield at the age of 55 and enjoyed over 40 years of traveling, stage shows, family time and many feisty card games with family and friends. In his later years, he and his wife enjoyed many long weekends in Maine. He was a proud member of the Elder Council 69 Knights of Columbus in Chicopee. Raymond would be the first to tell you that he had a happy and fulfilling life but that it was time for him to go home and rest. He will be sadly missed by all he has left behind but his family takes comfort in knowing that he is with his beloved wife whom he had known since the age of 19. His family knows that now they are both home and the best is yet to come for them. Ray will always be remembered with love and a smile by his two loving daughters, Cheryl A. Muscolo and Diane L. Bellefeuille; his two cherished grandchildren, Lori Nickerson and Eric Jeremicz; and his four cherished great grandchildren, Justin and Samantha Ziencina, Abigail Nickerson and Katrina Jeremicz. He will also be missed by his dear brother, Alfred Bellefeuille; his dear sister, Rose Mary Gralia and her husband, Ernest; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. Ray’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Ray’s caregiver, friend and confidant, Matthew Jelensky. Being one of ten children, Ray has known the sorrow of losing his three dear brothers, George, Roland and Robert; and his four dear sisters, Rita, Blanche, Bertha and Theresa. His Funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 10 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 Noon at Mary, Mother of Hope Church, 840 Page Boulevard, Springfield, MA 01104. His Burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 from 10 a.m. to 11a.m. prior to his Mass. In lieu of flowers, his family requests that memorial donations be made in his memory to a local food pantry.
