New Bedford – Jose M. dosSantos 84, of New Bedford, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Ester (Nunes) dosSantos for 62 years.
Born in Funchal, Madeira in 1938, he was the son of the late Pedro and Maria (Macedo) dosSantos. He and his family came to America in 1972 and settled in New Bedford, where he worked various jobs including foreman for the Dritz Corporation in New Bedford until his retirement in 2000. He enjoyed fishing, spending time with his grandchildren and was an avid fan of European soccer.
In addition to his wife Ester, he is survived by his three sons, David dosSantos and his wife Kimberley of Dartmouth, Saul dosSantos of New Bedford, and Isac dos Santos and his wife Julie of Dartmouth; five grandchildren, Stephanie Bettencourt and her husband Keith, Nicolas dos Santos, Lauren dosSantos, Colby dosSantos, and Colin dosSantos and one great grandson Parker Bettencourt. He is also survived by his siblings, Cecilia Costa, Daniel dosSantos, Lidia Coelho, and Francisca dosSantos, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
Jose’s visiting hours and funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at Perry Funeral Home located on 111 Dartmouth Street, New Bedford, MA. His visiting hours will take place from 9:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M with a service to begin at 11:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.
