Obituary

Worcester—Raymond S. Rand, 81, passed away after a 30-year battle with Parkinson’s Disease on Friday, May 5, 2006, at the Soldier’s Home in Holyoke. He leaves his wife of 59 years, Dorothy M. (Leacock) Rand; 2 sons, Dr. Robert S. Rand, and his wife Maria-Elisa of Fairfax Station, VA and Scott M. Rand of Lincoln, RI; a sister, Doris Carlson of Holden; a granddaughter, Christine Rand of Fairfax Station, VA; and 2 nieces. He was born in Worcester, son of Hjalmar and Marie (Segelson) Hjertstrand. He was a graduate of Commerce High and Massachusetts College of Pharmacy (1953). Raymond was a WWII veteran, a member of Our Lady of the Rosary, and Mass Pharmaceutical Alumni Assoc. He was a well-known and well-liked registered pharmacist for many years and worked for 3M, formerly Riker Labs, where he was one of their top producers. He enjoyed golfing and the beach. He was a dedicated husband and loving father.

Funeral services and mass at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2006, at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 23 Fales Street, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation, 1501 NW 9th Ave., Miami, FL 33136-1494. Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street is directing arrangements.
