New Bedford – Daniel C. Freitas of Fairhaven, MA died May 9, 2022 at St. Luke’s Hospital, after a brief illness. Daniel was born in New Bedford on May 9, 1969 and was the beloved son of the late Samuel Freitas and Margaret (Casey) Freitas.
He worked many years as both a Wastewater and Water Treatment Operator/Manager for the Town of Fairhaven and Commonwealth of MA. He had also been employed for many years as a Call Firefighter for the Town of Fairhaven. Daniel was well known and actively involved in the Town of Fairhaven, where he served on the Board of Public Works, and the Board of Selectmen among other different committees throughout the town.
He loved football, especially the Patriots, and was an avid Star Wars fan. He enjoyed watching his girls participate in their athletic activities, and coaching their softball teams.
He is survived by the mother of his children, Heidi Freitas; his two daughters, Cassie L. Freitas and Lacey M. Freitas; brothers; Eddie Freitas and Brian Freitas; sister, Vicki Kennedy; as well as many aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Daniel’s visiting hours and service will be held on Friday May 13, 2022 from 4:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St., New Bedford, MA 02740.
