Obituary

Ruth V. White of Provincetown died May 2nd in her home, surrounded by her loving family. Two months shy of her 95th birthday, her mind was sharp as a tack. ‘Like an old Chevrolet, there were many tune-ups to keep her running smooth’ according to her daughter Deb.

Before retirement, she was a housekeeper at the Cape Colony Inn, here in Provincetown.

She was a talented knitter in her free time. Her sweaters were admired by many, and all her relatives had a gifted, long-lasting sweater made by Ruth. She also enjoyed upholstering furniture.

Ruth was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, John A. White who died in 2010. Her parents Manuel and Mary Lema, who emigrated from the Azores, and sisters Pamala Cabral, Dolores Roderick Mary Morgan as well as a brother Frank Lema also predeceased her.

She is survived by her daughter Deborah White and son Steven White, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

A celebration of her life will be held in the fall.
