On May 5th, Fernando Medeiros died peacefully at home following a brief illness. He was born in Varzea Sao Miquel, Azores. He was the son of the late Manuel Garcia de Medeiros and the late Gilda de Medeiros Garcia.
Fernando immigrated from the Azores in 1976. He was a lifelong resident of Somerville, MA until he moved back to the Azores after retiring. He had recently moved back to the United States to be with his children.
He worked as an automotive mechanic his whole life. He worked for Wilmington Ford in Wilmington and then for Mirak Lincoln Mercury in Arlington. He liked to fish in his spare time.
He is survived by his three children; Felisberto (Phil) Medeiros and his wife Kelly of Raynham, MA, Flora Medeiros and her husband Eusebio (Subio) Oliveira of Halifax, MA, and Fred Medeiros of Rockland, MA. He also leaves his grandson Andrew Medeiros of Melbourne, FL.
Services will be held at the O’Keefe Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, MA 02780 on Tuesday, May 10th form 5-7pm. with a brief prayer service at 6:30pm.
