Obituary

Joseph P. Brennan, 91 of Wayland, formerly of Belmont, died peacefully surrounded by members of his devoted family and caretaker at his residence on May 3, 2022 following a period of declining health.
He was born in Cambridge on March 5, 1931 the son of the late Charles J. Brennan and Grace C. (Hutchinson) Brennan who died in childbirth. He was raised by his father and
step-mother, the late Anna (McCaffrey) Brennan.
Joseph was the beloved husband for 64 years of the late Elizabeth J. (O’Brien) Brennan who recently died on April 17, 2022.
Loving father of Kathleen M. Ustas and her husband John S. Ustas of Scituate; Joseph P. Brennan, Jr. and his wife Tara Brennan of Waltham and Stephen J. Brennan and his wife Samantha Brennan of Southborough. Cherished grandfather of Brian J. Ustas, Kristine M. Ustas, Kathleen E. Ustas, Cira N. Brennan, Pierce J. Brennan, Elizabeth H. Brennan and James S. Brennan.
Joseph has been a resident of Wayland for the past 20 years and previously resided in Belmont for many years. He received his BS in Physics from Boston College and worked toward the completion of his Masters Degree at Boston College in 1954. He had a long career as a Physicist with the Avco Research Lab and later Textron Company before retiring. He served his country with honor and pride with the United States Army as a First Lieutenant.
He enjoyed skiing and handball during his earlier years and upon retirement, spent his leisure time traveling with Elizabeth visiting family and friends and building model airplanes. Joseph was devoted to his wife Elizabeth, his children and grandchildren and will be fondly missed by all who knew him.
Visitations will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2022 from 10:00 to 11:15 am at the
John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road, (off Rt. 30), Wayland.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at 11:30 am at Good Shepherd Parish at St. Zepherin Church, 99 Main St (Rt. 27), Wayland.
Interment will follow in the Brennan family lot in North Cemetery, Wayland.
In lieu of flowers, his family kindly suggests that gifts in Josephs memory may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 (stjude.org).
