DUDLEY – Phyllis C. (Cross) Was, 72, of 12 Greenwood Avenue, died Friday, May 5, in Hubbard Regional Hospital. Her husband of 44 years, Walter W. Was, died in 1997.
She leaves a son, Leonard D. Was; a daughter, Beverly J. Pryga and her husband Alan; and a grandson, Kyle Pryga, all of Dudley.
She was born in Webster, the daughter of Peter and Loretta (Dwyer) Cross, and lived in Dudley 62 years. She graduated from Bartlett High School in 1951.
Mrs. Was worked at Anglo Fabrics Company in Webster for 15 years, and then as a bookkeeper at Deary Brothers for 15 years, retiring in 1982. She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church.
A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
