Obituary

CHICOPEE – Michael “Mike” Brown, 39, of Chicopee, was Called Home on Sunday, May 1, 2022. He passed into Eternal Life at home surrounded by all the memories that he loved and cherished. Mike was born in Bristol, Connecticut on November 23, 1982, a beloved son of Steven T. and Alberta E. (Cavagnaro) Brown of Torrington, Connecticut. He was raised in Torrington, graduated from Torrington Christian Academy and had lived in Torrington most of his life until moving to Chicopee in 2016. He served his country in the United States Army during Operation Iraqi Freedom and attained the rank of Specialist. Mike received two Purple Hearts for wounds received, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon and the Combat Infantryman Badge. Following his military service, he furthered his education and received an Associate’s Degree in Business Management from Asnuntuck College. During his leisure time, Mike enjoyed spending time outdoors and loved camping, fishing and hiking with his dogs. He was very proud of his military service and always considered his military service comrades his family. Above all, Mike loved spending time with his family and his many friends. In addition to his beloved parents, he leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Rebecca Hernandez. They were married on September 9, 2016 in Somers, CT and were blessed with over five years of happiness together. Mike will also be deeply missed by his loving step son, Donovan Narvaez of Chicopee; his two loving brothers and four loving sisters, Stacey Poll and her husband, Peter, and David Brown and his wife, Courtney, all of Torrington, Christine Robles and her partner, Tyler Fiore, of New Hartford, CT, Amber Sinclair and her husband, Kenneth, of Waterbury, CT, Darlene Kisiel and her husband, David, of Bristol, CT and Benjamin Brown and his wife, Jessica, of Torrington, CT; his dear mother in law, Evelyn Mercado of Springfield; his dear brother in law, Eladio Hernandez and his wife, Carmen, of Springfield; his two dear sisters in law, Jennifer Burgos-Marinak and her husband, Gus Marinak, of Enfield, CT and Kristal Burgos and her partner, Nelson Rivera, of Springfield; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and numerous friends. Mike will also be deeply missed by his beloved canine service companion, his dog, Jackson. He was predeceased by his loving infant sister, Suzanne Brown who was Called Home in 1970. His Funeral Services will be private and his Committal Service with United States Army Military Honors will be private at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.
