Obituary

Everett “Abe” Fontanella was born in Old Mystic, Connecticut to Lino Romano Fontanella and Rachele Maria Carocari. He attended Stonington High School and went on to earn a degree in Business Administration from Boston University. At General Dynamics, Electric Boat Division, he was employed as a Contract Negotiator, yet he found time to volunteer for many years with the North Stonington Schools.

Abe was a storyteller. He examined the world for its smallest details, and expressed himself with a sense of humor. Thusly, he shared his love of animals and nature, his affection for others, and the importance he placed on family, friendship, and faith. Most apparent was his passion and expertise in the design and history of the automobile, as his peers will attest, with a facility for metal working which is the legacy of the Fontanella family.

Abe passed away peacefully in April of 2022. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Barbara, his sons Lino and Jonathan, his brother David and sister-in-law Maggie, and his sister Joanne.

A celebration of life service will be held at the Old Mystic United Methodist Church [OMUMC], 44 Main Street, Old Mystic, CT 860-536-2171 or 860-333-7194, of which he was a lifelong member, on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at 10:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to OMUMC, P.O. Box 542, Old Mystic, CT 06372, or the charity of your choice.
