Matthew D. O’Connell of Winthrop passed away on April 30, 2022. He was 62 years old. Born in Winthrop, he was the cherished son of the late Edmund F. and Mary (MacNeil) O’Connell.
Pryor to his retirement, Matthew worked in the printing industry as a type setter. He enjoyed photography and many sporting events. Matthew loved the beach and was often seen walking the beach with his late dog “Frankie”. Matthews’s daughter Jennifer was the love of his life and he looked forward to attending all of her softball and basketball games and events.
Matthew was the devoted father Jennifer E. O’Connell of Dover, NH. He was the dear brother of Maureen Kilroy and her husband Bill of South Weymouth and the late Mary A. Miller, Edmund O’Connell Jr, William O’Connell, John O’Connell and his twin Michael O’Connell. Matthew was the former husband of Bonnie A. (O’Leary) Waylein of Salem NH and the brother-in-law of John Miller of NH. Matthew is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visiting hours in the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home 210 Winthrop St. Winthrop, on Saturday, May 7, from 9-11AM, followed by a funeral service beginning at 11AM. Interment will be private.
