Obituary

Robert W. Connolly of Charlestown and former resident of Palm Beach, Florida died on Thursday May 4, 2006 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston following a lengthy illness. He was 83 years old.

Bob was born in Medford, lived in Somerville for a short period and then moved to Charlestown where he attended Boston Public Schools. He enlisted into the United States Navy in December of 1942 and served during World War 2 aboard a submarine as a gunners mate third class. He was honorably discharged in December of 1945. Following his discharge he began working as a telegraph operator for Western Union in Boston for several years. He later moved to Florida and resided in the Palm Beach area where he worked as a bartender at the "Blue Boar Lounge" where he established many strong friendships.

Bob is the beloved father of Peggy Venezia and her husband Fred, Dawn Brayton and her husband Larry. He is the loving grandfather of 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Beloved brother of Sis Farrell and Grace Connolly both of Charlestown, Edward Connolly of Medford and the late Catherine Rooney and Henry Connolly. He is the devoted son of the late John F. and Catherine (Moore) Connolly.

Bob's Funeral will be held on Monday May 8, 2006 at 12 noon from the Carr Funeral Home 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 1 pm. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours for Bob will be held on Sunday May 7, 2006 from 3 to 7 pm. Cremation will take place following the Funeral Mass.
