Florence (Flo) Merlino Giammalvo of Quincy, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on April 29, 2022 at the age of 84.
Flo was born on October 22, 1937 to her late parents, John and Florence Hewitt of Boston. She enjoyed many years working for the Boston Public School system. Flo brought so much love into this world. She considered her greatest gift to be her family. She found true joy in celebrating life’s special moments with her family and friends. Flo never missed an occasion that honored one of her children or many grandchildren beginning with being present for each and every birth. Her love and joy of life made an impact on everyone she encountered.
Flo Giammalvo is survived by her husband Peter Giammalvo. Loving mother of Anthony Merlino and his wife Michelle of East
Falmouth, William Merlino of Dorchester, Michael Merlino of Quincy, Hugh Merlino and his wife Karen of East Falmouth as well as her dear sister Claire O’Brien and her husband Dave of Florida.
Flo was a loving and proud nana to 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grand children, 5 great-great grandchildren, and Aunti to several beloved nieces and nephews.
Flo was predeceased by her step father, William Summers, her eldest son, Paul Merlino, and sisters Carol Bruce and Barbara Robinson.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2022 from 4-8pm at Casper Funeral Home located at 187 Dorchester Street in South Boston. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 6, 2022 at 10AM at St Monica’s Church in South Boston followed by interment at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Boston.
