James Edwin “Eddie” Malone,90, of Greenville, RI, Vero Beach, FL and Chestertown, NY, died at home peacefully, Sunday, April 30, 2006.
Born in the Bronx, NY on April 10, 1916, he was the son of the late Thomas J. and Agnes I. (O’Neill) Malone. Beloved husband of the late Sophie M. (Wozniak) Malone, brother of the late Mary Farney, Irene McQuade, Grace Sullivan and Thomas J. Malone.
Ed served his country in the United States Navy in the European, American, and Asiatic-Pacific Theatres during World War II. He settled with his family in Port Washington, NY until his retirement in 1979. A member of the Knights of Columbus, he was a former Commissioner for the Town of North Hempstead, Executive Committeeman of the Nassau County Republican Party and former Chairman of the Port Washington Republican Party. Upon his retirement from public office, he lived between Vero Beach, FL and Chestertown, NY. Ed was an avid golfer, even making a “hole-in-one” on his 80th birthday! He had a gift for making people laugh and smile and was nicknamed – “Santa Claus”.
He is survived by three daughters, Mary Ann McCauley and husband, James of Havre de Grace, MD, Diane Smith and husband Paul of Edgewood, KY, Patricia Pollak and husband Richard of Kent OH and son Thomas Edwin Malone and wife Priscilla of Portsmouth, RI. Ed leaves 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
