Obituary

CHICOPEE - Edward A. Desroches, 91, of Chicopee, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, April 29, 2022 after a short illness. He was born at home in Chicopee on June 8, 1930, a son of the late Edward and Cecile (Gauthier) Desroches and was a lifelong resident of Chicopee. He served his country during the Korean War in the United States Army and attained the rank of Corporal. He received the Army Occupation Medal Germany and the National Defense Service Medal. Following his military service, he returned to Chicopee and was employed for many years as a Die Maker at the former Sample-Durick Company and later at the former Stan-Allen Company in Ludlow. He enjoyed old classic movies, especially the ones that starred John Wayne, and he loved his many trips to Cape Cod with his family. He will be forever missed by his beloved wife of 55 years, Cecile (Tetreault) Desroches; his three loving children, Russell Desroches and his wife, Chris, Donna McCoart and her husband, Pat, and Karen Flebotte and her husband, Paul; his three grandsons, Matt, Ryan and Colton; his sister, Leona Mann and her husband, Randy; and his two brothers, Richard Desroches and his wife, Portia, and Gil Desroches and his wife, Cindy. In addition, he also leaves his sister-in-law, Anita Carney, who was very special to him and her husband, Lou; and their sons, Matt and Michael Carney. He also leaves many nephews, nieces and extended family members. His Funeral and Burial with United States Army Military Honors will be private for his family. His funeral arrangement are entrusted to the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806) 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
