Obituary

SPRINGFIELD – Judith A. “Judy” (Sullivan) Blain, 82, of the Hungry Hill section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, April 27, 2022. She passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Pittsfield on September 13, 1939, the beloved daughter of the late Michael J. and Genevieve L. (Fogarty) Sullivan. She was raised in Lee and graduated from Lee High School. She furthered her education and received her Certificate in Nursing at the Mercy Hospital School for Nursing and an Associate’s Degree from Springfield Technical Community College. She was a dedicated Registered Nurse at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield. She was a longtime communicant of the former Our Lady of Hope Church in Springfield and currently a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. She was very proud of her Irish heritage but most of all, she loved spending time with her cherished grandchildren and many friends. She leaves her beloved husband and soul mate, Richard R. “Dickey” Blain. They were married on July 9, 1966 at Saint Mary Church in Lee and were blessed with over 55 years of happiness together. She also leaves her three loving children, Michael R. Blain and his wife, Therese, of Springfield, James P. “Jim” Blain and his wife, Anne-Margaret, of Longmeadow, and Mary P. Mazza and her husband, Tom, of East Longmeadow; her eight cherished grandchildren, Madison Blain, Daniel Blain, John Blain and his wife, Caroline, Ryan Blain, Thomas Mazza and his wife, Gabrielle, Hunter Mazza, Luke Mazza, and Ava Mazza; her cherished great grandson, John “Jack” Blain; her dear sister in law, Rose Migliore and her husband, William, of Vero Beach, FL; her dear brother in law, Jerry Blain, and his wife, Robyn, of Belchertown; her best friend and neighbor, Kathy Pierce of Springfield; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Blain, Sullivan, Broderick, DiGrigoli, and Ford families. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her dear sister, Patricia Ann Sullivan; and her dear brother in law, Donald E. Blain and his wife, Diane. Her Funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 594 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance of the funeral home are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
