Marian Joan Myrvang was a lifelong South Boston Resident. A caring wife, mother, & friend.
She left this world peacefully on April 26th, 2022 at age 74 due to a yearlong battle with cancer.
She was born to William and Madeline (Soares) Skobeleff on October 29th, 1947. She leaves behind her husband, Einar “Irish” Myrvang and 3 children: Jeffrey, Erica and Brandon, and her beloved dogs Toni & Parchy, and her beloved cockatoo Sinbad.
After graduating high school, Marian started her career as secretary for John Hancock, and then later as secretary for Dapper O’Neil. After being a stay-at-home Mom, she got her degree and got back out into the workforce as a Woolworth Manager for their Pet Dept. and Yarn/Sewing Dept. She then moved on to Lochner Engineering Firm where she showed off her talents during the Big Dig Project. Her last job was with Financial Reporting Services.
Marian was one of the Board of Directors for the South Boston Heights Academy.
She was also a Past Rear Commodore for the Germantown Yacht Club.
She had a very fun-loving personality and humorous mind!
Marian loved spending time in the kitchen, creating delicious meals for her family. She was a gardener, seamstress, piano player, guitar player and computer whiz. She loved to sew, crochet, knit and embroider. She was a pro at sanding floors, painting and wallpapering. She also loved to shop. She was an animal rehabilitator. She would adopt tough cases and turn them into the most loving pets. She was always rescuing animals whether there were birds falling out of nests to taking in unwanted pets. She also loved spending time down at the SBYC, at parties (especially Halloween), enjoying the boat and sitting on the concourse on beautiful summer days. She loved working out in the pool at the BAC, and volunteering her time working on local campaigns.
Visiting hours are scheduled from 2pm to 5pm on May 1st, 2022 at Casper Funeral Services, 187 Dorchester St., South Boston, MA 02127. Reception to follow at the South Boston Yacht Club at 5:30pm.
