Arthur J. DesRoches, 73

Dateline: Norton, MA

Arthur J. “Tiny” DesRoches, age 73, of Norton, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his adoring family on Tuesday, April 26, 2022. He was the beloved husband of Mary D. (Packer) DesRoches, to whom he was wed on September 1, 1979

Born in Boston, MA on June 19, 1948, he was a loving son of the late Augustus J. and Jeanette M. (Galineau) DesRoches.

Arthur grew up in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Boston and was a 1967 graduate of Hyde Park High School. During the time of the Vietnam War, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. Following four years of faithful service, he was honorably discharged on September 6, 1971 with the rank of Airman First Class.

Prior to retiring, Tiny worked in the Receiving and Supply Department at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Brockton and was at the Stop & Shop Warehouse in Readville. He had made his home in Norton for over forty years, was a communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Norton and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Tiny treasured the times spent with his cherished family, especially playing Santa Claus to them, as well as many-many children throughout the years. He also enjoyed playing cribbage, card games, throwing horseshoes and trips to area casinos.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his devoted children: Christina Page and her companion Richard Brown of Norton and Ryan Packer of Quincy. He was the loving grandfather of Zachary, Alexis, Marlee and Harlan. He was the dear brother of Edward P. DesRoches and his wife Janet of Hyde Park and the late Robert DesRoches, William DesRoches and John DesRoches. He is also survived by his former son-in-law Derek Page of Norton, as well as his loving nieces and nephews.

His Funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Thursday, May 5th at 10:00 A.M. in Saint Mary’s Church, 1 Power Street, Norton. Burial, along with military honors, will follow at Cedar Knoll Cemetery in East Taunton.

Visiting hours are omitted and those wishing may remember Arthur with a donation in his memory made to the Home for our Troops, 6 Main Street, Taunton, MA 02780.
