Garabedian, Oscar (Ollie)
Born in Medford on October 14, 1927, son of the late Levon and Mariam Garabedian, Oscar passed away peacefully at home in the presence of loving family in Arlington on Monday April 25, 2022 at the age of 94.

Oscar was predeceased by his brothers Leo and Charles Garabedian both of Watertown and his sister Gladys Tashjian of Waltham. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Rose Garabedian (Berberian) of Arlington, his daughters Deborah Garabedian of Arlington, Doreen Blathras (Garabedian) and her husband John of Burlington, two grandchildren Steven and Ashley Blathras along with many nieces and nephews.

Oscar retired after working for John Hancock Insurance as an Insurance Agent for forty years where his charm and laid-back personality was always a welcoming site. Oscar was a dedicated member of the Mason’s society throughout his life and was recently recognized for seventy years of service.

Oscar enjoyed spending time with his family and especially cherished the time he had with his grandchildren. Steven and Ashley could always put a smile on Papa’s face. Oscar spent his life tirelessly devoted to his family especially his daughter Debbie. Those who knew him personally knew the constant struggle that never discouraged him from doing whatever was necessary to ensure that she enjoyed a care free life.

Oscar was an avid sports fan of local teams and was thrilled to finally get to see his Red Sox win a World Series championship. In his more active time Oscar frequented the Arlington Retired Man’s club where he would spend hours playing cards and talking with friends. Oscar’s outgoing personality and friendly demeanor guaranteed friends would be made in any circle.

Oscar’s kind heart and humble soul will be greatly missed by all those whose lives he has touched.

Family will receive friends at the Aram Bedrosian Funeral Home, 558 Mount Auburn Street, Watertown, MA on Friday April 29 from 10 until 12 noon immediately prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Arlington.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Oscar’s memory to either St. James Armenian Church, 465 Mt. Auburn St., Watertown, MA 02472 or Work Community Independence (WCI), 610 Lincoln St., Suite 120, North Building, Waltham, MA 02451.
