Obituary

Edward Joseph Salvador, 87, passed away peacefully at his home in Plantation, Florida on Easter Sunday, April 17th, 2022. His last days were filled with the love and the comfort of his 3 children and their spouses by his side.

Born in Provincetown on April 12th, 1935, 'Eddie Marcey', as he was known to all, was the only son of 3 children born to Edward and Priscilla Salvador. Mr. Salvador graduated from Provincetown High School in 1954 and served in the United States Army from 1959-to 1963.

Eddie was a successful businessman and the second-generation president of the Salvador family business, Marcey Oil Company Inc. It was handed down from his father Edward Salvador Sr. and passed on to his son, Jon Edward Salvador. Jon learned the family business from his father starting from the age of 10 when he would accompany his dad on many calls, and now it's passed on to his grandchildren.

Eddie was a man that everyone who knew him, looked up to and learned from. He was admired and respected by his family, friends, and customers. He was very much a family man. Mr. Salvador was not only a father to all his kids, but a friend and a confidant. He was a man to learn from, listen to, and someone to strive to make proud. He was not that guy to show his emotions often and he rarely said to anyone, "I love you" To him, love was an action, He did not feel he had to say those words because he showed love every day.

Captain Eddie was awash with fishing tails and adventure stories; from riding out big storms in his boat the Junie L, to harpooning giant Blue Fin Tuna. He was imaginative, inventive, and clever. Tough as nails and hard as stone, he was also generous, kind, and a whole lot of fun to have a beer with. He lived several lifetimes of experience on the sea, including catching the tuna of the year, over 1200 pounds, one summer. He worked hard, played hard, and fought hard for the things he believed in.

He would do anything for anyone, and he DID! He could fix almost anything. One of his quotes was, "If it's broken you can't do it anymore harm trying to fix it". He also would add except with electricity, "Make sure whatever you're trying to fix is not live.”

His most famous quote: "I’ve got to get the hell out of here".

Eddie had a couple of rules in life that he lived and died by. He strived to be an example of truth and honor for both his family and country.

Eddie’s rules to live by:
• You don't Lie
• You don't sneak
• You do what you say you're going to do and do it when you say you're going to do it.

To Eddie, for all who knew him:” Where you used to be there is now a hole that can never be filled. It doesn't really matter who you used to be; it only matters who you used to be to me.”

In addition to being a Captain, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Lions Club, and served on the board of Seaman’s Savings Bank & Trust.

Eddie is survived by his sons, Jon Edward Salvador & wife Wendy, Edward J. Salvador, Jr. and wife Mary Sue, and daughter Margo Peyton and her husband Tom. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by sisters Nancy Stephani, and Rosanne Rego.

At Eddie’s request, there will be no services.

If desired, memorial donations may be made in Eddie’s name to the Provincetown Rescue Squad, 25 Shankpainter Rd, Provincetown, MA 02657.

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.
