Lance Corporal Michael Louis Ford, 19, of New Bedford died Wednesday April 26, 2006 while serving with the U.S. Marine Corps in Iraq.
Born in Wareham, the son of Joseph M. Ford, Sr. and the late Cheryl E. (Viger) Ford, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.
Michael was a graduate of Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps on his eighteenth birthday.
Survivors include his father; three brothers, Joseph Ford, Jr., James Ford, and Tyler Ford and a sister, Heather Ford, all of New Bedford; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Ford, Sr. of Raynham and Barbara Viger of New Bedford; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 400 Cross Rd., Dartmouth, Tuesday, May 9th at 10 AM, followed by burial with full military honors in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Visiting hours will be at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Monday, May 8th from 5-9 PM.
