TEWKSBURY: Sandra C. “Sandy” (Santos) Ethier, age 79, recently of Methuen, a former longtime resident of Tewksbury, passed away at the Lawrence General Hospital on Friday, April 22, 2022.

She was the beloved wife of William J. Ethier, who passed away on March 9, 2013.

Born in Danvers on January 15, 1943, she was the daughter of the late John Santos and the late Ermina (Delusio) Santos.

Sandy was raised in Salem, MA. She attended St. James Parochial Grammar & High School and graduated with the Class of 1962.

In 1973, she and her late husband moved to Tewksbury where they raised their two children.

Sandy was very active in many groups at St. William’s Parish, including C.Y.O., Teens Encounter Christ (TEC), Couples Club and Marriage Encounter. She loved participating in TEC retreats and made many dear friends throughout the years.

Prior to retiring in 2002, she was employed in the food service program by the Tewksbury School Department.

Sandy and her late husband Bill had a passion for cruising. They went on eighteen cruises, their favorite being trips to Alaska and Portugal. In her spare time, Sandy loved playing Bingo and spending time with her three grandchildren.

She is survived by her two children, Michelle A. Cole and her husband Wayne, of Windham, NH, and Mark W. Ethier and his wife Kelly of Hudson, MA, her three grandchildren, Alison and Ryan Cole, and Liam Ethier, one sister, Diane Santos, of Salem, MA, and many cousins. Sandy was the aunt of Susan Petrucci, and the late Theodore Pertrucci and Tracey Ethier Kliros.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Lung Association at www.lung.org in memory of Sandy Ethier.

Calling hours are Wednesday, April 27, from 4-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Her funeral procession will begin Thursday, April 28, at 9 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment of her ashes at Tewksbury Cemetery will be held at a later date.
