Obituary

SPENCER: Martin Montoya, 90, of Spencer, died Saturday, April 23 in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester. He leaves his wife of 68 years, Soledad Z. de Montoya, his sons; Martin Montoya and his wife Denise of Puerto Rico, Humberto Montoya and his wife Nerida Lacomba of Spencer and Mario Montoya of Puerto Rico, 8 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Martin was one of 10 children. He was born in Sinaloa, Mexico, the son of Carlos and Domitila Montoya.



Martin was a Supervisor at Borinquen Container Corporation for 25 years before retiring in 1997. He was an artisan Ironsmith, and his work lives on throughout Isabela, Puerto Rico. An avid sportsman, who played Triple-A Baseball, Soccer and won numerous golf trophies. He also had a passion for singing, he was a choir member for many years and loved singing Mariachi.



Most of all, he loved his family and spending time together. Sundays were meant for new adventures with the family, especially at the beach. Martin’s family and friends will remember him as the life of the party, an exceptional father/husband, and a wonderful human being who was an example for all.



Calling hours will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday, April 25th. in the MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester. A prayer service will conclude at the end of the visitation at 6 p.m.
