Obituary

Margaret Joyce Diamond, born June 23, 1921, in Providence, RI, passed peacefully on April 23, 2022, at her home in Brighton, Mass. She was the beloved daughter of Robert Henry and Rose Marshall Diamond. Margaret was predeceased by her brother, Robert Henry Diamond.

Margaret graduated college at Boston University with a BS in accounting and finance and, later, from Boston University School of Law with a Doctor of Jurisprudence. She was a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association, practiced general and family law, and was director of the Rhode Board of Medical Review. In her later years, she enjoyed volunteering for the Brooke Courthouse in Boston as lawyer of the day.

Margaret was affiliated with the American and Boston Bar Associations, the International Federation of Women Lawyers, the Massachusetts Catholic Lawyers Guild, and was a member of the Massachusetts Consumer Council, appointed by the Hon. Edward W. Brooke. She was proud of her association with World Peace Through Law. She worked in Bangkok, Thailand, representing the firm of Tilleke & Gibbins, and was a member of the Bangkok local committee of American lawyers.

Margaret is survived by two nieces and one nephew: Susie Alix-Howard and Thomas Howard; Margaret Diamond; and Henry Diamond and his life partner Susan Candace Frater. Margaret is also survived by grandnieces and grandnephews Margo and Paul Benzuly and Henry Mitchell and James Colin Diamond. A second nephew Robert H. Diamond III predeceased her.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Margaret’s Funeral Mass on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 11 A.M. in St. Joseph’s Church, 68 William Cardinal O’Connell Way, Boston, Mass., 02114. Her burial will be private. There are no funeral home visiting hours.
