Nancy R. Zabawa

TEWKSBURY: Nancy R. (Haskell) Zabawa, age 86, a well-known member of the Tewksbury community, passed away at home on Monday evening, April 18, 2022.

She was the beloved wife of Michael J. Zabawa, with whom she shared 56 years of marriage.

Born in Dixfield, Maine on December 23, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Milton Haskell and the late Rachael (Kidder) Haskell.

Nancy was raised in Dixfield, Maine and graduated from Dixfield High School.

Following her wedding 1966, she and her husband Mike moved to Tewksbury where they raised their family.

Nancy worked for the former Astro Circuit Company in Tewksbury and volunteered numerous hours to the Middlesex Shelter preparing meals for the less fortunate, and the Meals on Wheels organization by delivering a warm dinner to those in need.

She was an active member of many organizations in the Tewksbury community including the Red Hat Society. In addition, she was past chaplain for the Tewksbury Elks Post # 2070, and past chaplain for the Tewksbury Golden Age Club and Senior Drop-In-Center.

Nancy loved playing cards and traveling with friends throughout the United States. She especially enjoyed the many day trips sponsored by the Tewksbury Senior Center.

She will fondly be remembered for sense of humor and her warm, friendly, and outgoing personality.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children, David E. Zabawa and his companion, Ellen Merrill, of Billerica, Denise E. Tello and her husband Ron, of Madison, NH, Dianna M. Zabawa, of Tewksbury, and Daniel J. Zabawa and his wife Leslie, of Lowell. She leaves many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and friends.
Nancy was the mother of the late Don and Dennis Martin.

There are No Calling hours. All are welcome to a celebration of her life on Saturday, April 23, from 2-4 p.m. at the Tewksbury Elks Club, 777 South Street, Tewksbury. Please Omit Flowers. Donations honoring her memory may be made to Friends of the Elderly and mailed to the Tewksbury Senior Center, 175 Chandler St., Tewksbury, MA 01876.
