Obituary

Donna (Davis) Bourget, age 79, formerly of Stoughton and Brookline, passed away peacefully on Good Friday, April 15, 2022, after a long illness. She was one of five children, four daughters and one son, and she was the beloved daughter of the late Edward J. Davis and Irene (Ryan) Davis.

She was a graduate of Brookline High School and raised her family in Stoughton, working part time as a Crossing Guard. Eventually, she applied to and was accepted as a candidate in the Police Academy. As a single mother raising her four children, she chose to work hard and achieve the distinction of becoming the first female police officer in the town she loved, and proudly served on the Stoughton Police Department until her retirement.

She was compassionate toward people who were struggling and in crisis, particularly women. Upon her retirement from the Police Department, her focus continued to be a domestic violence advocate working with women and with local hospitals. When time permitted, she returned to her love of arts and crafts, particularly ceramics and floral designing.

Donna is survived by her children, Arthur (Nancy) Bourget of Texas, Gregory (Anne) Bourget of East Bridgewater, Monique E. Bourget of Sandwich and Edward (Janet) Bourget, of Texas and her seven grandchildren Erin, Adrianna, Ryan, Zachary, Elizabeth “Lizzy”, Sophie and Dean. She is also survived by her five great-grandchildren. Loving sister of the late Irene (Davis) McCarthy and the late John McCarthy; Edward “Ted” Davis and Diane Davis, Roy Peck and the late Marron (Davis) Peck, and to the late Mervina “Chickie” (Davis) Maloney and she is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Her work ethic was a good example and legacy for her children, and she was a good friend to her neighbors and friends, as well as to her fur-babies, especially “Taco”. Her time spent with her family, friends and pets was priceless to Donna. Any dog would be lucky to have been owned, spoiled and loved by Donna.

At the request of Donna, visiting hours are omitted and the memorial celebration of Donna’s life will be private and by invitation only.

Donations in Donna’s memory can be made to MainSpring House, an emergency shelter, located at 54 N Main Street, Brockton, MA 02301, or to the Scituate Animal Shelter, Attn: Help Fund, 780 C.J.
