Obituary

LEICESTER: Mary E. (Gardner) Huntoon,95, died Thursday, April 14 in Christopher House, Worcester.
Her husband of 67 years, Warren G. Huntoon, died in 2012. She leaves two sons; Wayne G. Huntoon and his wife Carmen of Sterling and John R. Huntoon and his wife Holly of Millbury, three daughters; Carole M. Smith and her husband David of Danielson, CT, Susan C. Richard and her husband Paul of Worcester and Lauren E. Chaffee and her husband Andrew of Worcester, a sister Naureen Buck of Louisiana, a sister-in-law Barbara Gardner of Boylston, 18 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren,1 great great grandson, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Lance Corporal Richard W. Huntoon in 1966, a grandson Ryan Chaffee, two brothers; George & Thomas Gardner and a sister Janet Consiglio.
Mary was born in Claremont, NH, the daughter of George and Mary (Bourgoine) Gardner. She was a longtime member of St. Pius X Church and a former CCD teacher. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking and spending time with her family. Mary traveled to Vietnam in 1970 with three other Gold Star Mothers for the dedication of a hospital that was built there and originally known as the Worcester County Living Memorial Hospital. The hospital was built to honor the memory of servicemen from Worcester County who were killed or missing in action.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 20 from MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main Street, Leicester with a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM in St. Pius X Church, 1153 Main Street, Leicester. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Leicester. A calling hour will precede the service from 9:30-10:30 AM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Leicester Food Pantry, P.O. Box 333, Leicester, MA 01524.
