Obituary

Gregory Charles ‘Greg’ Scondras, 69 of Gilford, NH, passed away after battling a long illness on Sunday, April 10, 2022 at Concord Hospital in Concord, NH. He was born and raised in Lowell on May 16, 1952 and was a son of the late Charles E. Scondras and the late Stella (Sperounis) Scondras. He attended the area schools, graduating from Lowell High School with the Class of 1970. During his time in school Greg excelled in athletics. Heavily involved in baseball, basketball, boxing, and his personal favorite football.

After graduating high school, Greg enlisted with the United States Army serving during the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge. After his service he was employed with security at Raytheon and at Ft. Devens for many years until his retirement.

Greg was a proud resident of Lowell his entire life and was a member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. He later became a member of Christ Church United. He had a range of different hobbies his entire life. One could find Greg in the garden to fixing a car and everything in between. He loved all animals and had many pets throughout his life. In his later years he developed a love for traveling. He accomplished his lifelong goal of visiting Greece. Greg was happiest when he was spending time with his family and friends and helping them when they were in need.

Greg inherited a deep pride for his Greek heritage which he passed onto his four children. He is survived by, Andrea Lopez and her husband, Norris of Tyngsboro, Laurie Medeiros and her husband, Matthew of Hudson, NH, Christina Trudel and her husband, Richard of Dracut, and Luke Scondras and his partner, Romina Gugo of Winchester; his six grandchildren, Mckayla, Alysha and Christina Lopez-Scondras, Matthew Medeiros Jr., Madison Medeiros, and Raymond Trudel; and one great grandson, Dimitri Ramos. He is also survived by his sister, Antonia Tsakalakos and her husband, Steven of Lowell; his brother, James Scondras of South Carolina; his sister-in-law Helena Scondras, his best friend Shirley Moore of Gilford, NH, and many nieces and one nephew, his godson, Charles Scondras.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, the late Katina Brown and her husband, the late Edward Brown; his brother the late Christos Scondras; and his sister-in-law, the late Sharon Scondras.

On Wednesday, April 20, 2022 all are welcome to attend his calling hours from 10 a.m.-12 noon at McDonough Funeral Home, 14 Highland Street, Lowell, MA followed by his funeral service in the funeral home at 12 noon and procession to Westlawn II Cemetery in Lowell.
