HILDA (LEA) BEDFORD, age 89, a Hingham resident for over 60 years, died on Tuesday, May 2nd at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. Mrs. Bedford was born in Prince Edward Island, Canada and came to Hingham as a young girl. She was a Hingham High School graduate and prior to her marriage, was associated with the Aetna Insurance Company in Boston. Mrs. Bedford was an active member of the Hingham Congregational Church and the Cohasset Golf Club.
She leaves her husband of 60 years, Norman C. Bedford of Hingham, her daughter, Sally L. Schofield of Westport, and son, N. Clark Bedford and his wife Leslie of Hingham. She was the sister of Marion I. Cushing of Arlington, Frederick B. Lea of Westwood, Helen E. Edmunds of Alexandria, VA, the late George W. Lea, the late Jennie K. Jenkins and the late William A. Lea. Grandmother of Seth and Darah Schofield, and Kristen and Stephen Bedford.
Funeral Services Friday, May 5th at 11 AM at the Hingham Congregational Church, 378 Main St., Hingham, MA 02043
Friends may visit at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham on Thursday evening from 7-9 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory would be appreciated to the Hingham Congregational Church.
The interment will be in Union Cemetery, Scituate.
