Funeral Service in the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Monday at 11 AM. Burial in Melrose Cemetery. Visitation Monday 10 – 11 AM.
Bernice L. Stevenson 92 years of Brockton died Friday at the BayPointe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Brockton after a period of failing health.
She was born in Brockton daughter of the late Arthur B. and M. Beatrice (Landry) Stevenson and remained a lifelong resident.
She was a graduate of Brockton High School and Bridgewater State Teachers College. Following her graduation she was an elementary teacher in the Brockton School System for thirty-five years.
Bernice sang professionally in concerts and local functions including singing at radio station WBET.
She was active in a variety of local organizations including the Massachusetts Teachers Association, Delta Kappa Gamma, The Little Red School House Association, The Brockton Garden Club and the Brockton Historical Society.She had been a longtime communicant of St. Edward Church.
She is survived by her cousins John, Ruth, Lynne, Leslie and Donald Bates of Brockton, David and Cindy Bates of East Bridgewater and John and Linda Bates of MansfieldShe was the sister of the late Arlene M. and Errol B. Stevenson
