Obituary

John H. "JL" Lynch Jr. of Westwood, at the age of 68, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2022, after a fiercely fought three-month battle with brain cancer. Most beloved husband of Joanne (Williams) Lynch, with whom he shared 41 wonderful years of marriage. Devoted and loving father of John H. Lynch, III and his wife Kathryn of Medfield, Patrick W. Lynch and his wife Nicole of Charlestown, Michael F. Lynch of Quincy and Matthew W. Lynch of South Boston. Loving Grandpa of Jack and Bridget Lynch of Medfield and Ellie Lynch of Charlestown. Best brother to Bruce D. Lynch of Dover, Brian D. Lynch and his wife Sandra of Huntington Beach, CA, Kathleen M. Lynch of Dover, and Peter J. Lynch of Westwood. Dear brother-in-law of Wayne and Teri Williams, and Mary Jayne and Mark Sullivan. John will also be lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews, many dear cousins, and life-long friends.

John was a graduate of Westwood High School, 1971, and Boston College School of Management, 1975. Above all else, John’s number one passion and priority was his family. But a very close second was his passion for playing hockey. For decades he organized and played in a weekly “Wednesday Night Hockey” pick-up game, primarily at Randolph’s Zapustas Ice Arena, only stopping when forced to by his illness earlier this year. Each week he would tirelessly pursue goalies and players to ensure an enjoyable game would be played with his brothers, sons and hockey buddies old and new. For “JL” anyone who “talked hockey” was a kindred spirit.

Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St., Dedham on Wednesday, April 13 at 10am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Margaret Mary Church, Westwood at 11am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours on Tuesday, April 12 from 4-8pm. Interment in New Westwood Cemetery.
