Maria F. "Marie" Perry, 84, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, after a period of declining health.
She was daughter of the late Anthony and Alyce (Fraga) Perry and lived in New Bedford all her life.
Marie worked at New Bedford Gas & Edison Light Company until her retirement. She loved music and singing and performed in her local church choir, in addition to early years performing locally in several musical groups. Marie also enjoyed knitting, painting, the Boston Red Sox and the many family gatherings over the years.
Survivors include two sisters; Karen Perry-Rose (Barry) of New Bedford and Angela Hague (Ronald) of CO; three brothers, Lawrence Perry (Debbie) of CT, Robert Perry (Johanna) of Dennis, Martin Perry (Jennifer) of Brewster; brother-in-law Richard Bates; sister-in-law Susan Perry; Aunt Elsie Fraga; and many nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her siblings, Elizabeth Lestage, Anthony Perry, Ruth Bates and Valerie Perry.
Marie’s family would like to sincerely thank the staff of Autumn Glen, MasterPeace, Exceptional Care and New England Hospice for their kindness and compassion.
Services will be held at Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford, MA. Visiting hours will be at 8 AM on Tuesday, April 12th followed by a Mass at 10 AM at Saint Lawrence Martyr Church, 110 Summer St., New Bedford.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Marie’s memory may be made to St. Joseph’s Indian School or to the charity of your choice.
