Obituary

SPRINGFIELD – Carol M. (Derosia) Lockwood Fontaine, 89, a former resident of the Saab Court Apartments in Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, April 6, 2022. She passed into Eternal Life at Willimansett Center West in Chicopee surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Laconia, New Hampshire on August 9, 1932, a beloved daughter of the late Alfred L. and Sophronia A. “Toots” (Lamothe) Derosia. She was raised in Springfield, graduated from the former Cathedral High School in Springfield and had lived in Springfield most of her life. She was employed as a Saleswoman at Osgood Fabrics in Springfield and later West Springfield. During her leisure time, she enjoyed reading. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and her many friends. She leaves her seven loving children, Maria A. Bennett of Chicopee, Kenneth P. Lockwood and his wife, Kathy, of Casselberry, FL, Alan W. Lockwood and his wife, Patricia, of San Diego, CA, Denise E. Drennan of Austin, TX, Glen Lockwood and his wife, Michelle, of Rochdale, David Fontaine of Hendersonville, NV and Christian Fontaine and his wife, Kathi, of Springfield; her 18 cherished grandchildren; her nine cherished great grandchildren; and her many dear extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her loving daughter in law, Carolyn Fontaine who was Called Home on July 5, 2014; her dear sister, Pearl M. DeFilio who was Called Home on March 17, 2022; her two dear nieces, Bonnie Dias who was Called Home on January 25, 2022 and Brenda DeFilio who was Called Home on January 5, 2022; and her two former husbands, Henry K. Lockwood, Jr. and Robert Fontaine. Her family will receive friends on Sunday, April 10, 2022 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. followed by a Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m. at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107. Her Burial will be private at Saint Michael Cemetery in Springfield.
