William J. Quinn

William J. Quinn, age 82, of Canton passed away April 3rd at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Boston, he was raised in Brighton and graduated from Brighton High School. He has lived in Canton since 1969 and was a member of Boston Carmen’s Union Local #589 where he was an Operator for the MBTA for many years before retiring. Bill was an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed watching and playing football, baseball, and hockey. Some of his happiest times were spent watching his grandchildren participate in sporting activities. He also loved many types of music, especially jazz and enjoyed reading biographies and history books. As a child he enjoyed family summer vacations at Nantasket, and then as an adult at Hampton Beach, The Berkshires, and more recently York, ME. Once retired, Bill and Pat travelled throughout Europe as well as places such as Bermuda, California, Alaska and the Caribbean. They also enjoyed spending their winter months together in Naples, FL. He was also a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 2095 in Canton.
Beloved husband for 59 years of Patricia A. (Riley). Son of the late William J. Quinn and Marie J. (Riordan). Cherished father of William J. Quinn (Lisa) of Canton, Maureen M. O’Brien (James) of Wrentham, Stephen G. Quinn (Kristin Bold) of Needham, and Brian L. Quinn (Anna) of Brooklyn, NY. Adored grandfather of Kaitlyn Quinn (John Richards), Alison Quinn, Thomas O’Brien, Kayla O’Brien, Alexandra Bold, and Luke Bold. Loving brother of Marie J. Buckley (Dennis) of York, ME and the late Rita M. Quinn. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral service at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Monday morning at 11:00 am. Visiting hours Sunday 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm Burial Canton Corner Cemetery. Donations may be made to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, St. Jude’s, or a charity of one’s choice.
