Obituary

ACTON- Steven “Steve” Carl Spooner 57 passed away April 2nd peacefully at home with his loving family after a long courageous battle with cancer.

He was born March 1 in Barre Vermont to Ann Spooner and Ernest Carl Spooner. He was always proud of his roots and could often be heard saying, “I was born in Vermont and I do what I want!”.

He spent many years working in the automotive industry. From mechanic work to car sales to scrap metal— he did it all, even operating a junkyard. He had a passion for cars and anything with wheels and a motor. He loved 4 wheeling and was an avid Nascar fan attending many races over the years.

He loved life and loved to have a good time. As the saying on one of his favorite shirts says, “Growing old is mandatory but growing up is optional” this is the way he lived-enjoying every moment.

Most of all he loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He could often be found at family gatherings and events and rarely missed one, even as his health was declining. He especially had a soft spot for his grandchildren and was a loving Pappa.

He was predeceased by his parents Ernest Spooner and Ann Hoppe and his stepfather Ron Hoppe.

He is survived by the love of his life and life partner Cheryl Muse, two sons Steven Jr Spooner and Mathew “Matt” Spooner, a step daughter Michelle Muse and her partner Scott Garrett, a stepson Lawrence “Larry” Muse and his wife Laurie Muse, two sisters Marjorie Kennedy and her husband Dennis Kennedy, Debbie Spaulding, a brother Dan Spooner, a sister-in-law and life long friend Venus Gallant, 11 grandchildren, many nieces, nephews aunts, uncles, cousins, many wonderful friends, and his loyal dog and best friend Rocket.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Hospice of Southern Maine for their support, care and making his final days comfortable and peaceful.
