Obituary

Robert A. D’Amario, Sr., 85, of Smithfield, died Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at Stillwater Nursing Home in Greenville. He was the husband of the late Claire M. (Cull) D’Amario to whom he was married for 53 years before her passing in June of 2017.

Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Arthur and Agnes (McLelland) D’Amario. He had lived in Smithfield for the past 58 years.

Bob served in the US Air Force. He was an Electronics Engineer at the Naval Underwater Systems Center in Newport for 36 years before retiring early at the age of 55. He was so good at retirement he would exclaim “I don’t know how I ever found the time to work!”. He enjoyed gardening, working in his garage, trips to the casino, lending a hand to his neighbors and hanging with his friends at Panera.

Bob is survived by his daughter Lisa Bushee and her husband Donald of Warwick, his son, Robert A. D’Amario Jr. and his wife, Michele of Norton, MA. He was the proud grandpa of Andrew Allen of Warwick and Allison D’Amario of East Greenwich. He is also survived by a sister, Esther Pederzani.

He was the brother of the late Daniel, Arthur, Richard (his twin) and June D’Amario, Louise Bowden, Edith Poirier and Loretta Gatti.

A visitation will be held Tuesday 4-7PM in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Rt 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to HopeHealth and Palliative Care, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02908.
