Obituary

Lewis, Honorable Paul D. 80 of Westwood, March 29, 2022. Beloved husband of 54 years to Anne Marie (Fitzpatrick). Devoted father of Peter L. and his wife Christine of Westwood, Timothy K. and his partner Kristin of Dedham and the late Paul D. Lewis Jr. Loving “Papa” of Logan, Nolan and Bridget Lewis of Westwood.

Paul is survived by his brother, Arthur and his wife Mary of Jamaica Plain, his sister-in-law Miriam of Scituate, and his brother-in-law Kenneth Fitzpatrick of Jamaica Plain.

Paul was predeceased by his parents Arthur J. Lewis and his mother, Margaret (Tansey) and his brother John of Dedham.

Paul grew up in the Forest Hills section of Jamaica Plain and attended St. Andrew’s Grammar School, St. Sebastian’s High School (class of ’58), The College of the Holy Cross (class of ’62), Suffolk University Law School (class of ’67).

Paul was a Professor at Bunker Hill Community College and Boston College. He was instrumental in setting up the Bail Project at the Suffolk County Jail and was an instructor at the Criminal Justice Training Academy in Southboro and lecturer at the National Institute of Corrections.

Paul was appointed as a Justice of the Boston Juvenile Court by the late Governor, Edward J. King in 1982. He held that position until his retirement in 2011.

While living in Norfolk, Paul coached Little League baseball and King Philip-Walpole Youth Hockey transferring those abilities to Westwood Youth Hockey.

He was a member of the Allen Harbor Yacht Club in Harwich Port and enjoyed his summers on Cape Cod.

There will be no visiting hours and interment will be private. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Church, 420 High St., Dedham on Friday, April 8 at 10:30am. Relatives and friends kindly invited.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his name to The Salvation Army, ALM Division, P.O. Box 4857, Jackson, MS 59296.
