Obituary

“UnitedDavid J. Galvin, a resident of Medford and formerly of Somerville and Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Monday, March 28, 2022 at the Massachusetts General Hospital. He was 82 years of age.

David was born in Boston on March 19, 1940 a son of the late Maurice Galvin and Florence (Harrigan) Galvin. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated in the Boston Public School system and graduated from Charlestown High School. David entered into the United States Air Force on January 29, 1962 and served his country with honor and pride during the Vietnam Conflict. David was discharged on January 28, 1966 with the rank of Airman Second Class. David began his career working as a processing clerk for Lombard Bros Inc. in Malden. He later worked as a mail handler for the United States Postal Service for 25 years. David was an avid Boston Sports Fan. He was a quiet man who loved his family above all else. He especially loved traveling to his grandchildren's hockey games.

David is the beloved husband of the late Diana E. (Black) Galvin. He is the loving father of David J. Galvin Jr. and his wife Elizabeth. He is the devoted Papa Galvin to Kerri and her husband Steve Drum, Christopher and his wife Loren, Courtney, David James Galvin, and to his great-grandchildren Piper, Acen, and Zoey. He is the beloved brother of the late William Galvin and his surviving wife Norma, Mildred Galvin, Francis Galvin, Florence Morin, Lillian Galvin, Janet Galvin, and Thomas Galvin. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend David's Funeral on Saturday April 2, 2022 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. His burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. His visiting hours will be on Friday, April 1, 2022 from 4 to 7 P.M. in the funeral home.
