Benoit of E. Bridgewater formerly of Brockton May 1, 2006 Robert J. “Bob” Benoit, Sr. 80 years. Devoted father of Elizabeth J. (DeGeorge) Breer and her husband Allen of W. Bridgewater; Richard G. Benoit and his wife Claire of Bridgewater; Robert J., Jr. and his wife Margaret; Raymond F. and Roger Q. all of New Hampshire. Also survived by 16 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Brother of Ernest Benoit and Doris Boucher both of Brockton and the late Armand, Raymond and Arthur Benoit and Beatrice Hickey.
Funeral Service in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton Thursday at 10 am. Burial at a later date in Pine Hill Cemetery. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8 pm. Donations in Bob’s name may be made to Parkinson’s Disease Foundation 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, NY, NY 10018.

Obituary

Robert J. Benoit 80 years died Monday morning at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center following a period of failing health. He was born in Bridgewater a son of the late Rosario A. and Eva M. (Gaudette) Benoit. He was raised and educated in Brockton and was a graduate of Brockton High School Class of 1944. He had been a resident of East Bridgewater from 1954 to 1975 when he moved back to Brockton. Most recently he had been a resident of Caffrey Towers.
Following his high school graduation Mr. Benoit entered the US Army and served in France and Germany during WW II.
Mr. Benoit had a lengthy career as a musician/keyboardist on the South Shore. He was well known at many establishments including the Alamo in Abington and the Buccaneer Lounge in Raynham. He also performed at weddings and private parties.
Mr. Benoit had also worked at Franklin Sports and Independent Nail.
In his youth he enjoyed horseback riding, playing polo and tennis. He had been a member of the VFW Post 5737 in Abington.
He is survived by a daughter and four sons Elizabeth J. (DeGeorge) Breer and her husband Allen of W. Bridgewater; Richard G. Benoit and his wife Claire of Bridgewater; Robert J., Jr. and his wife Margaret; Raymond F. and Roger Q. all of New Hampshire. Also survived by 16 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He leaves a brother and a sister Ernest Benoit and Doris Boucher both of Brockton and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of late Armand, Raymond and Arthur Benoit and Beatrice Hickey.
