WORCESTER-Evelyn C. (Carpenter) Davis, 85, of 8A Conger Road, died Friday, April 28th, in the Hospice Residence. She leaves her husband of 55 years, Frank L. Davis; a son, Richard B. Davis of Williamstown; three daughters, Gail M. Davis of Worcester, Patricia A. Halpin of Leicester, and Frances E. Douglas of East Orange, VT; a brother, A. Bernard Carpenter of Chester, VT; three sisters, Virginia Varg of Auburn, Glenna Brownell of Charlton, and Kay Venning of Gardner; nine grandchildren; a great grandson; nephews and nieces.
She was born in Worcester the daughter of Frederick A. and Evelyn E. (Searle) Carpenter, and lived here most of her life. She graduated from Auburn High School. Mrs. Davis was a clerk for New England Telephone Co. for 25 years, before retiring in 1985. She was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and the YWCA.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, May 5th, at 11:00 AM in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. Burial is in Hope Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to VNA Care Hospice, 120 Thomas Street, Worcester, MA 01608.
