Ron Gath, 74 of North Andover, formerly of Reading passed away peacefully at Lawrence General Hospital, on March 21, 2022.  He was born in Lowell on July 25, 1947, son of the late Harold and Edith (Siegel) Gath.

He grew up in Tewksbury where he attended Tewksbury High and graduated in the class of 1966.  After High School he served his country with the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  Following his service, he married the love of his life, Virginia “Gina” (Lippiello) Gath in 1971 and resided in Reading for 44 years before moving to North Andover and recently celebrated 50 years of marriage.

Ron was a family man, he enjoyed coaching his children’s sports teams while they were growing up, primarily baseball, but also soccer and basketball. When he became a grandfather he would never miss any of his grandchildren’s games.  He loved a good Western, whether a novel or movie, heading out for a morning of fishing and could often be found playing horseshoes at the U.S. Bunting and Cricket Club in Lowell. For many years he, alongside his good friend and partner Lester Herriman, owned and operated New England Machine Tool Service out of Reading.

In addition to his wife, Gina, he is survived by his children; Michael Gath and his Fiancé Kristen from Plymouth, Brian Gath and his wife Shannon of Andover, James “Jamie” Gath of Quincy, Steven Gath and his wife Katie of West Hartford, CT, Sarah Gath and her husband Alejandro of Wellesley. He was the Papa to his grandchildren, Cameron Gath, Laina Gath, Connor Gath, Liam Gath, Jackson Cook and was proud to know he had another grandchild on the way.

He also leaves his siblings; Bonnie Sue Guptill of Billerica, Gerald Gath and his wife Martha of Dunstable, Rebecca Fuller and her husband Gary of Dracut, Dennis Gath and his wife Nancy of Tewksbury, and Lorna-Faye Gath of Lexington Kentucky.  He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
