Rita L. (Carpenter) Roda, age 88, she passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on March 17, 2022. She was born on Aug. 16, 1933 in Chicopee, a daughter of the late Rudolph N. and Blanche I. (Donais) Carpenter. Rita was a member of the Jubilee Family Outreach Center and was very involved with her parish community. She also enjoyed playing softball for Chicopee leagues in her younger years. She worked as an independent house cleaner for many years before she retired. She is predeceased by her husband John Roda who passed away in 1998; four brothers, Harvey, Rudy, Bobby and Roger and one sister Shirley. She is survived by her son John Roda Jr and his wife Jennifer of Belchertown; three daughters, Dianne Lenox of Chicopee, Kimberly Menard and her husband Brian of Springfield and Tracy Perez of Springfield; one sister, Mary Peltier of Chicopee; 10 grandchildren, Rebecca, Lee, Jade, Asia, Samantha, Ian, Alisha, Makayla, Nathan and Nicholas; 13 beloved great grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who will miss her. Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 25, 2022 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
