Barbara M. (Stone) Lyons, age 86, passed away on Friday, March 17th, at Stone Rehabilitation & Senior Living of Newton. Born and raised in Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Adelyn (Hamilton) Stone.
Barbara lived for many years in Medford, Watertown and Winchester, and was employed as an administrative assistant in a medical practice. She loved ballroom roller skate dancing with her best friend Ann. Later, her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of her life. Barbara’s family would like to express their gratitude to the staff and residents at Stone Rehabilitation & Senior Living for the excellent care and friendship she enjoyed in her final years.
Barbara was the beloved wife of the late James J. Lyons, and the devoted mother of Steven Lyons and his wife Marcia Stieger, Andrew Lyons and his wife Kathy Mayr, David Lyons, Barbara Lyons and her husband Kosta Politis, James C. Lyons and his wife Laura, Kelly Lanefski and her husband Matthew, Patricia Hare and her husband Francis, and the late Karl Lyons. She was the loving grandmother of Oona, Telemachos, Achileas, Andy, Emma, Rebecca, Elaine and Kevin, and the loving great grandmother of Cal, Jack and Ezra. Barbara was the dear sister of Donald Stone and his wife Barbara, Douglass Stone and his wife Sharon, Patricia Roark and her husband William, and Kevin Stone and his wife Karen. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 29th in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, beginning with a visitation period at 10 AM, followed by remembrances of Barbara by her children, and a prayer service. At 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with a procession to Newton Cemetery.
