Obituary

SPRINGFIELD - Albert J. "Al" Coulombe, 76, of the Hungry Hill section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Monday, March 14, 2022. He passed into Eternal Life at home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Springfield on March 19, 1945, a beloved son of the late Joseph and Marie Coulombe. He was raised in Springfield, graduated from Cathedral High School in Springfield and had lived in Pawtucket, Rhode Island for many years before returning to Springfield. He furthered his education and received a Bachelor's Degree from the former Lowell Technological Institute in Lowell, MA. He was employed as an Engineer for 33 years for General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton, Connecticut. He was a communicant of Mary, Mother of Hope Church in Springfield. During his leisure time, he was an avid card player and enjoyed trying his luck at Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and his many friends. He leaves his loving sister and brother, M.J. Alice Casey and George L. Coulombe and his wife, Helen, all of Springfield; his many cherished nephews and nieces; and his many dear extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his four loving sisters, Elaine P. Dudley, Leona A. Kiakis, Marie A. Gray and Corinne D. Coulombe. His Funeral will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2022 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Mary, Mother of Hope Church, 840 Page Boulevard, Springfield, MA 01104. His burial will be private at Saint Michael Cemetery in Springfield. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, March 25, 2022 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Masks are recommended for his services. His family requests that memorial donations be made in his memory to Mary, Mother of Hope Church, 840 Page Boulevard, Springfield, MA 01104.
