Dolores D. (DelTorto) Carroll, a longtime resident of Medford, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 15, 2022. She was 93 years young.
Born at Silver Lake in Wilmington to the late Anthony and Edwina (McGivern) DelTorto, she graduated Saint Rose High School in 1947. She later moved to Medford as a young adult and met and married the late Maurice W. Carroll, Jr., owner of the former Carroll’s Restaurant. Dolores was a longtime communicant of St. Joseph Church in Medford. She was a very active member of the St. Joseph and St. Francis of Assisi’s Mother’s Clubs as well as the Thursday Fortnightly Club. She had also been a Cub Scout Den Mother when her children were young. Her door was always open and welcome to family, and friends that became family. Above all, Dolores was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be dearly missed.
In addition to her late husband Maury, Dolores was predeceased by her much-loved son David M. Carroll as well as five older brothers: Francis, Joseph, Daniel, Edward, and Ralph. She is survived by her children: Thomas, Diane DeBenedictis and her husband Frank, Maurice, and Paul. She was also grandmother to eight and great-grandmother to twelve.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church, located at 118 High Street, on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 11:30am. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Visitation will be held in the church, prior to the mass, from 10:30am to 11:30am. Interment will be at Oak Grove Memorial Cemetery in Medford. Donations in Dolores’ memory may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, located at 2361 Hylan Boulevard in Staten Island, NY 10306 or to the ASPCA at P.O. Box 96929 in Washington, DC 20090-6929.
