Obituary

George Lawrence Boudreau Jr., of Boynton Beach, Florida, formerly of Medford, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully in the arms of his loving wife, Cynthia (Cindy) Allison Fitt on March 11, 2022. He was 59 years old. Born and raised in Medford, he was the son of the late George (Gigi) Boudreau and Gertrude (O’Connell) Boudreau.

In addition to his wife Cindy, George is survived by his daughter, Jacqueline Boudreau of Washington, D.C., formerly of Chestnut Hill, MA, his mother, Gertrude of Medford, MA; his siblings, Lauren of Winchester, MA, Matthew of Marshfield, MA, and Gregory and his wife Jamie of Medford, MA; his nieces and nephews, John Phillip, Erin, Zachary, Sarah, Matthew, Lilly, Emma, and Inga, all who adored him. George is also survived by his former wife Kara Grady Boudreau, and many cherished aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and former teammates.

George attended Matignon High School (1981) and Boston College (1985). He was a standout hockey player from a young age. As a member of the Matignon High School hockey team, George played in four straight Eastern Massachusetts hockey finals and as Captain, led the team to back-to-back state titles. During his senior year at Matignon, George was named the Outstanding Division I Defenseman at Hockey Night in Boston and was drafted into the NHL by the Calgary Flames. He went on to play all four years at Boston College, where his team won the Beanpot in 1983, won the Hockey East Championship in 1985, and appeared in the Frozen Four. Throughout his life, George took enormous pride in being a BC Eagle and his closest friends were the ones he made on the ice.

George graduated from Boston College in 1985 with a B.S. in Marketing from the Carroll School of Management. After college, he worked as a money market trader in New York.

In 1996, George joyfully welcomed his only child, Jacqueline, into the world. She was his greatest source of pride. Throughout the years, George remained the closest of friends with his former wife Kara.

George lived his later years in Florida where he was cared for with the deepest of love by his wife Cindy with whom he shared 18 years of marriage. He was happiest spending time with Cindy and their dogs, talking on the phone with his family and friends, and following Boston sports.
George will be forever remembered for his warm heart, keen intellect, humor, compassion, and resounding love for his daughter, his family, his friends, and for Boston.
