James J. Rooney, of Medford, March 9th. Beloved husband of the late Margaret “Margie” (Armstrong) Rooney. Father of Kathleen DeMarco and her late husband John of Malden, Kevin Rooney and his wife Rita of Everett and the late Robert Rooney. Grandfather of Robyn, Lauren and her husband Jacob, Kerry, Erin, Samantha and James. Great grandfather of Megan, Emily and Grace. Brother of Mary Servodio and her husband Joseph of Florida, Ella Eden of Somerville and the late Paul Rooney. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. James has been a lifelong resident of Medford. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during World War II. For many years, he worked as a Mail Carrier in Malden. Relatives & friends are invited to attend his funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Monday March 14th at 8:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden at 10 AM. Services will conclude with interment in Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Visitation will be held at the funeral home prior to the Mass on Monday only.
